There is a lot to think about and consider when buying your first home in another country, so we also want to use the blog as a forum where we can share tips and advice for those who are on a home hunting and want to buy residence in Spain.

Introduction of me

I will start by introducing myself and telling you a little about who I am: My name is Chris Mjøs and I am the Managing Director of Medsea Invest. Medsea Invest is a member of both the Spanish and international real estate regulatory authorities.  I also created a law firm called Medsea Legal and through this we can help customers with all the legal aspects related to a home purchase which gives our customers extra security in the buying process. I have been selling homes in Spain for 19 years and enjoy my work now as I did the first day I started.  Helping people find their dream home in Spain is never boring! Evolution in real estate in Spain

A lot has happened since I started my company here in Spain 19 years ago. At that time I had a home office and was the only employee, while today we are 8 employees and have an office in the shopping centre next to McDonalds and Jysk in Punta Prima. During almost 20 years in the real estate industry here in Spain, I have experienced both ups and downs in the housing market, but there is one thing that has not changed: The eagerness of those in the colder parts of Europe to holiday, spend time and live here in the sunshine, blue skies and warmth. Right now, the housing market is very hot and the days are long and hectic - and the Norwegians, particularly, are buying properties in Spain like never before!

Next post

In the upcoming posts, I will talk more about the process of buying a home in Spain, a little about what laws and regulations apply to buying and selling, and also what to consider when buying a home abroad. I will also come to the subject of inheritance and inheritance tax as well but will of course do my part to make the blog primarily interesting and content-rich so that it gives an insight into how it is to live in Spain.
